Hull Stop Smoking Service
The Hull Stop Smoking Service was launched in November 1999 and has already helped over 24,000 smokers to quit. (Data to 30th September 2008). Of those who set a quit date with the Service nearly 70% succeed in quitting.
In the Yorkshire and Humber region 23% of the adult population smokes. Amongst those that have routine or manual jobs the figure is much, much higher. In the Hull and East Yorkshire area it is estimated that the number is closer to 30% on average with smoking prevalence in some wards exceeding 50%.
With our support a smoker is FOUR times more likely to quit than if going it alone. To help smokers find the right support for them, the service runs approximately 80 sessions every week in over 40 community based venues throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Knowsley Stop Smoking Service
In 2013 City Health Care Partnership CIC was awarded the contract to deliver stop smoking services in Knowsley. The Service will offer the same support and interventions to smokers wanting to stop smoking in Knowsley.
In the Merseyside region 22% of the population smokes. In Knowsley the smoking prevalence is estimated to be over 27%. Smoking prevalence varies in Knowsley between wards with some wards exceeding 31%.
St Helens Stop Smoking Service
From the 1st April 2015 City Health Care Partnership CIC will deliver stop smoking services in St Helens. The Service will offer the same support and interventions to smokers wanting to stop smoking in St Helens. The smoking prevalence in St Helens is 20.7%, which varies between area, age group and employment status. Young people are more likely to smoke than older people in St Helens, 38% of 18-24 years olds are smokers.
Healthy Routes Wigan and Leigh
From the 1st June 2015 City Health Care Partnership CIC will deliver stop smoking services across the Wigan borough. The Service will continue to offer support and interventions to people wanting to stop smoking in the borough provided by Health Trainers and Specialist Stop Smoking Advisors.
The smoking prevalence in Wigan is higher than the national average, 26% of the adult population of Wigan borough are smokers compared with 24% in England overall. Young people are more likely to smoke than older people within the borough and prevalence rates vary between townships and levels of deprivation.
