There are a range of different products available and all the NRT is FREE when using the service.
Nicotine Replacement Products:
Nicotine Gum
Nicotine gum comes in several different flavours including fruit and mint. It is absorbed through the lining of your mouth.
Nicotine Patches
Nicotine patches are available in 16 hour and 24 hour timed release. They allow nicotine to be absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream, providing a constant level of nicotine.
Microtabs
These are small tablets, containing nicotine, which dissolve under your tongue.
Lozenges
The lozenges are like a sweet that you suck slowly to absorb the nicotine.
Inhalator
Inhalators look like a plastic cigarette. The inhalator releases nicotine vapour which gets absorbed through the mouth and throat.
Nasal Spray
This is the strongest and quickest acting NRT. The nicotine is absorbed through the lining of your nose.
Other Stop Smoking Medication:
Zyban
Zyban is a treatment which changes the way your body responds to nicotine. A quit date is set during the second week of taking Zyban. It is available on prescription.
Champix
Champix has been specifically developed for stopping smoking, working by changing nicotine’s effect on your brain. As with Zyban, a quit date is set in the second week of taking the medication and is available on prescription once you are receiving support from a specialist.
